Cigna 360 Well-Being Survey

dad-and-son

To monitor and track the annual evolution of well-being, the Cigna 360 Global Well-Being Survey 2022 looked at five key components- family, financial, physical, social, and work. In partnership with Kantar, a leading data, insights and consulting company, Cigna International® has analyzed the findings to uncover the latest trends and challenges for health and well-being.

We surveyed over 11,500 people aged 18-65, in Australia, Belgium, Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UAE, UK and the United States. The fieldwork for this survey was completed in April and May 2022.

June 2022:
Burned Out Overseas – The State of Expat Health
For our first 2022 Cigna 360 Well-Being Survey report, we focused on expat health. Over the past two and a half years, expats have seen many of their assumptions about their lifestyle challenged. The world of easy travel, with the ability to visit family, friends and colleagues disappeared suddenly, and many found themselves separated by long quarantines, disrupted flights, job losses and visa requirements. Earlier this year, as the world began a slow shift towards normality, we spoke to people across the world to understand how their priorities have changed.

Our key findings:

  • Expat burnout is now endemic and money worries increase
  • There is a new, younger expat generation
  • Expat life priorities are at the forefront
  • Destinations are changing for work assignments

October 2022: Exhausted by Work – The Employer Opportunity
For our second survey report of 2022, we focused on the employer opportunity. The past three years has changed the world of work and left employees exhausted and revaluating their priorities. Office workers instantly went from spending five days a week with their colleagues, to working from home. Although many found this experience isolating at times, many are keen to continue with a more flexible approach to work, preferring a hybrid model that better supports their Whole Health. The opportunity for employers is to consider their Whole Health approach to this new dynamic. To understand this, as well as the impact of trends, such as the 'Great Resignation' and ‘Quiet Quitting’, we spoke to people across the world to understand how their priorities have changed.

Our key findings:

  • Employees have embraced the new way of working
  • Younger people are looking for a Whole Health Approach
  • Workers are seeking higher trust and engagement from their employers
  • Employers have an opportunity to embrace hybrid work options

Overall our 2022 research has shown that expat priorities have changed and employers are listening. Employers have an opportunity to promote hybrid work and engage with their younger population of workers. The next few years will allow companies who prioritize this to maintain a strong workforce.
